Buying Full Size Loft Beds
Loft beds have always been associated with dorm rooms and tiny apartments where college students reside. But if you really look at the advantages of owning a full size loft bed, you may end up wanting to have one in your own home. With a loft bed in place, you can create a study area or a small home office no matter how small your apartment is. Your child can sleep on the loft bed and there will still be enough space underneath for his books, study table and underwear drawer. A full size loft bed is also great to have around if you need to furnish a small cabin.
If you just bought a studio type apartment in a bustling city and you expect to collect more clothes as the years go by, you can invest in a loft bed. With so little space available to you, a loft bed will free up enough space for your desktop PC, a shelf and even a small dresser.
Loft beds come in many forms and sizes. More often than not, loft beds can be categorized according to size and the material used to create the bed.
Most of the models I’ve seen come in twin or full size loft bed. Full size loft beds are wider than twin size beds by roughly 15 inches, but the extra inches might spell the difference between discomfort and relaxation for some people. Personally, I would go for the full size loft bed right off the bat because I need the extra inches for more pillow space. In case you don’t know, full size beds are also known as double beds.
Frames for loft beds are either wooden or made of metal. The type of frame that’s best suited for your room depends on your budget and your room’s decor. Wooden frames also have different categories. Cherry and oak hardwood make for excellent loft bed frames.
You can also order a custom made loft bed if the person sleeping in it is too bulky for the commonly sold ones. If your daughter or son is big, you may have to make allowances in terms of the length of the bed and enhancements in the supportive frame.
If you’re buying a loft bed, always look for extras, such as built-in computer desk, a chest of drawers and book shelves. Take note that the price for loft beds increase with each additional feature, but if you dislike buying more furniture pieces, these bonus features may be worth it . Good luck with your loft bed hunting and don’t forget to ask the service man if assembly is a part of the package.
