What Makes A Baby Crib Safe

There are many good crib collections available in the market, DaVinci Kalani Collection being one of them. Despite a model’s popularity, how do you really know if it really is safe for your little one or not? How would you know that it will live up to the expectations and won’t hurt the baby? Fortunately for you, I have just the information which will allow you check if a crib is really safe or not by checking on a few very simple thing.

The first thing to look at is that the crib walls should contain the mattress tightly so that it does not move. There should be no missing or broken hardware protruding at odd angles from the crib and certainly no cut outs in the head boards and foot boards.

There i muc deliberation about the slats of the crib. They should be no more than 2 3/8″ apart from each other. You can measure this by trying to pass a can of soda through the slats of the crib. If you are unable to do that, you are good to go. The corner posts are not to be higher than 1/16 of an inch.

Another issue that has been recently arised is the drop sides. many cribs in the market like the Richmond Convertible Crib are now manufactured with drop sides which can be lowered for the convinience of putting the baby in and taking it out of teh crib. New warnings from the concerned authorities have reported them to be highly dangerous. There fore all parents are advised to stay away from drop sides for the time being.

Mattress heights is also something you want to pay attention to. Multilayered mattress systems are highly advised. 2 mattress heights is advisable, 3 is even better. Some cribs like the Bonavita LaMadre Collection come with this feature builtin. YOu need to look out for how this feature is supported though. If a crib uses vinyl straps to hold the mattresses then it is not a good choice. A spring system is best but metal bars are not too bad either.
